2 Creative Needle Back Issues – 1991 March/April and November December
Because so many of us need to know what a particular item sold for, and because those references are getting harder and harder to find, I decided to have a section of items previously sold. This is a recent addition and, unfortunately, does not reflect the 1000s of items I’ve sold on the internet through the years. Wouldn’t that be great?

Sixteen, vintage, round, aluminum jello molds with a swirl design. Each mold is 3-3/4″ diameter and 1-1/2″ tall and has a raised point in the middle so that when the jello is turned out, there is an indention.
You can use these for their intended use or in your crafting projects!

Three, antique, blue and pink floral teacups and saucers in delicate, antique, white porcelain. Unmarked, but probably English Staffordshire. The saucers are deep. Bowls, rather than the traditional saucer shape that we’re so used to these days. The hand painted design is navy and the lovely magenta color usually seen in pink lustre. There is a vine painted around the inside top perimeter and one cup has a pink flower painted in the bottom. Another has the remains of the flower, in the third, the flower is completely gone. The saucers have remnants of the painted, center flowers as well. The body has raised lattice work from center to top.
Aside from the fading flowers already mentioned, one cup has a crack, seen in a picture below. There are no other chips or cracks, but there is some light staining.

Vintage, opened, tropical, beachy, themed, flour sack, 54″ long and 36″ wide. The leaves in the print are spring-like spirals coiled around a center stem, in groups of threes and fours. A very mid century modern look. There are white leaves, brown and gold, all on a deep, sky blue background. It is in very good condition with no stains or tears and no fading. The old stitching holes are plainly visible.

1916, phrenology head chart, “Picture Of Good Health”, with four overlays, copyrighted by E.J. Stanley.
This was torn out of a book, most likely an encyclopedia or medical book. The base page is 7″ x 10″.
It would frame well, but the condition is poor. It is soiled, fragile, chipped, creased and torn. I don’t like to be a Negative Nellie, but it is what it is and you need to know exactly what you’re getting. Personally, I think the flaws give it age and character, but if you want perfection, this one is not for you.

Italian, mosaic mandolin shaped pin worked in turquoise, dark blue, red and white, all set in gold tone metal. It is 1-3/4″ long and 3/4″ diameter at the widest part and closes with a safety clasp. The clasp feels loose, but stays firmly in place. The pin is stamped “MADE IN ITALY” on the back.

Vintage, traditional, colonial style, brass door knocker with window opening for the name or house number. **Note: there is NO glass or anything to put the name on.**
The door knocker is 4-7/8″ long and 1-7/8″ wide at the widest point. It comes in two pieces. The knocker is placed in grooves under the plate and stays in place once the plate is screwed into the door. The plate is held in place by two screws which are included. The previous owner carefully kept it all together and the screws are still wrapped in Duck tape.
No attempt has been made to clean the brass. It has patina and is spotted (weather related?) as well.

Twenty, vintage, quilt squares in the churn dash pattern in blues, browns and reds. The squares are 12″ and machine stitched. Fabrics used were cottons and blends. Two squares have some seersucker.
Some of the white centers are stained. I’ve done nothing to try to clean them. Most of the centers are a tight weave, maybe broadcloth or sheeting. Seven of the centers are a much looser weave and not as white as the others, perhaps muslin or osnaburg.
Make your own vintage quilt with these squares or use them for pillows.

Opened, vintage flour sack, lavender background with white daisies design. It is 27″ long and 36″ wide. The lavender background is light, but I do not believe it is faded. There are a couple of tiny brown spots near the cut end, a dot 1″ from the edge and a line that goes with the grain 2″ above that. These are 12-1/2″ from the selvage edge. There is also a 1″ slub in the fabric 4″ from the other cut edge and 2″ from the selvage (same side).

11″, stuffed doll named Mike from General Foods in 1953. He is blond haired and blue eyed and his clothes and features are printed on the fabric. He is wearing green overalls, a red shirt and blue kerchief. He’s also wearing a big smile and licking his lips. In his back pocket is a yellow handkerchief. Written at his waist is 1953 General Foods Creation.
It looks like a cut and stuff fabric doll, but being from General Foods, I’m not sure. He is soiled and has several stains you can see clearly in the pictures.

SOLD!
These harlequin dancer, vintage shelf sitters are so very mid century, 1950s. They sit about 4″ tall. Overall height from the tip of their toes to the top of their heads is about 6-1/2″. A sticker on the bottom says, “Hand Painted – Made in U.S.A. – ABCO – Alexander Baker Co.” They appear to be chalk.
They are in poor condition. Apparently they fell off the shelf at some point in their lives, but were lovingly repaired. The lady has multiple nicks and the tip of her left foot was broken and glued back. The man’s right foot suffered the same fate plus the tops of his shoes have broken off. There is also a chunk of the back of his head that has been glued back in place.
These repairs only make them more dear in my opinion. That someone cared enough to do their best to repair them. I hope you agree.

Pale, sky blue background with yellow centered white daisies opened flour sack. 36″ wide by 46″ long. It is in very good condition, but there is about a 5″ x 3″area in one of the corners that is yellowed.

Purple and yellow flowers calico in a soft, cotton fabric I believe to be a vintage flour sack, although I cannot find any definite stitching holes. It is 38″ wide and 40″ long. No stains or tears. There is a 1″ by 4″ patch right next to the selvedge edge about mid way down that is picked.

One pair of vintage thigh highs, silver in color. Heiress brand, nylon, hose with nude heel, size 10. They are 30″ from the top to the top of the heel. The thigh band reads, in blue writing, “Heiress – Sparkle Nude Heel – 10 – 100% Nylon.” They are in a Sapphire brand box (not Heiress brand), with no original paper wrapping.

Mid century, Danish modern, wood and plastic salad servers still in their original box. Circa, probably 1960s.
The handles are wood and the necks and bowls of the fork and spoon are clear plastic. The plastic is very light weight, so I think it’s probably not Lucite. They are each 12″ long. A sticker remains on the back of one that reads, “Our Own Imports – Japan.” The spoon bowl has some very tiny scratches, but I’m sure they were rarely, if ever, used.
The box does show some wear from years of storage.

10″ diameter, frosted, ceiling shade from the 1920s. There are six, elongated fan shapes with molded flowers around the bowl of the shade. The edge is clear, not frosted, and is scalloped with inverted heart shapes. The bottom of the bowl is clear and has flower petals radiating from the center. The shade comes with it's original, 3-1/2″, ball chains that go through three holes in the shade and were used to attach to the fixture.
THIS IS THE SHADE AND CHAINS ONLY. NO FIXTURE.
It is in very good condition. There are, perhaps, a few, very tiny, nicks along the edge, but it's hard to tell if they are simply where the glass wasn't smoothed completely or if they truly are nicks.
These also make great bird feeders and succulent planters!
