1960’s Dinkler Tutwiler Hotel Restaurant Plate – Shenago Restaurantware Dessert Plate
1960’s restaurantware dessert plate most likely from the Dinkler Tutwiler Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. Since it came from an estate in Birmingham, I feel certain it was from the Tutwiler rather than some other Dinkler hotel in some other state.
It is 7″ diameter. The black, line, graphics on the plate is nice and clear, and not faded. There are no chips, cracks or crazing, but there is a good bit of surface scratching and scuffs. It was definitely used in the hotel restaurant.
The beautiful, historic, Tutwiler was, sadly, destroyed in 1972. I’ve read it was the second building in US history to be imploded.
