25 Days of Christmas – today

bells-08

There are a pair of these on either side of a doorway.

Things have been terribly busy lately. Normal is busy. This is terribly busy. Did I say I’m going on a 5 day cruise this Saturday – Thursday? I’ve never been on a cruise before. We’ll be going down the coast of Mexico, the same area we vacationed in. My sister-in-law’s family is having their Christmas family get-together on the boat and one couple backed out leaving an open cabin. They offered it to Ricky and me, but Ricky couldn’t get off work, so Erin and I are going.

I’m almost wishing I hadn’t committed to it. My son and daughter in law, Philip and Lisa, are coming up on the 20th and will stay through Christmas. We’ll host two gatherings here, the 21st and Christmas Day. I’m still trying to get all the decorations out and get the house ready. And I need to work. Don’t really need to close up shop for those five days. I need to work tomorrow, but have to do some last minute shopping. For the cruise. Maybe I can get some last minute gifts while I’m out.

My plan was to be completely decorated and cleaned up before we leave. Hehehe. Well I’m trying. Trying hard.

Stars Fell On Alabama

christmasstars08

I was born a few hours before a star fell on Alabama in November nineteen-mvtvy prwr. The metorite fell just a few miles away – through the roof of a house and actually hit the lady on the leg! Do a google search for Hodges meteorite and Sylacauga. You can read all about it.

Up until a few years ago I had only seen the occasional shooting star, far above in the heavens. During an occasional meteor shower, I’d get to see lots of them, but two or three years ago, on the way to watch the Christmas parade I saw a low ball of light streak across the sky. Erin was with me and by the time I could say, “What was that?!” it was gone. She didn’t get to see it. At the parade, I asked everyone I talked to and not one person saw it. Everybody just laughed and shook their heads saying I’d finally lost it, but I know what I saw! Then last year as we were headed to Florida, again in November, somewhere close to Tifton, Georgia, a glowing fireball shot straight down the highway in front of us. This time I wasn’t the only one to see it. But what a treat!

I’ve always had a fascination with the stars, but only in the past few years decided to collect old star tree toppers. That collection is pretty pitiful, but it’s all I’ve got and I think they’re more precious to me because they are so pitiful.

25 Days of Christmas – Day 4

Car Planter and Christmas Tree

OK. I’m already loosing steam. I cheated today. This one is in the shop. Give me a break! Four days in a row is harrrrdddd! LOL Here’s what happened to today. I overslept this morning. Actually, I woke up at 4:00, lay there for an hour thinking of all the things I had to do today, this week, this month, this year, this lifetime…. Finally got up and cleaned out the refrigerator and took the garbage out. Checked email and stuff and went back to bed. Still couldn’t go back to sleep, so I started reading. That put me out pretty quickly and I didn’t wake up until – gasp – 8:30! Had to wash my hair, feed the cat, get dressed, so I didn’t have time to get any decorations out.

We did get a tree last night for the shop. I’m waiting on Ricky the Light Man to get down here and put it up and string the lights. Thought he’d be here an hour ago. I’m getting that feeling he’s gonna be a no show. If we wait much longer, there’ll be no use in even putting it up here. I do have lights in the windows at least.

The tree at home is planned to go up tonight, but it takes me several days to get it decorated. It’ll be awhile before there are any pictures of it.
