- No sales tax!
That’s right! Why? How? Well, you see, I’m small potatoes. A very low volume seller. The chances of me owing your state more than a dollar or two a year are almost nil. States have a threshold of when we have to start paying sales tax that I will never reach. - Free shipping, too?
Yep. However, I may occasionally use a flat rate on a larger item. - If you’re so low volume, how do I know I can I trust you?
I’ve been successfully selling online, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, since 1998. The last thing I want to do is ruin the good reputation I’ve built over the years. But, of course, I can say that all day. There’s no reason for you to believe it. You can check my feedback on eBay (ivorytklr) and Etsy (justvintage2). How do you know that’s me? Sigh. Ya just gotta trust me on this. - Something went wrong with my order placement. What should I do?
Please contact me! I have no way of knowing something’s not working right without your help. - Hey, I saw this same item, same pictures, on eBay and Etsy. Do you have three of them?
Nope. Unless stated, there’s only one. I don’t like “crosslisting”, I’d rather sell here and nowhere else, but I’m in the business to sell and wherever you feel comfortable buying is the best place. - Wait. The same item costs more on eBay or Etsy than here. Why’s that?
Ummm….. the fees they charge us to sell. And I’d rather encourage you to buy here. - What’s your shipping time and process?
I ship almost always the same day or the next day if the order comes in while I’m out or later in the afternoon central time. Shoot. Most of the time I’m sitting right at the computer waiting on orders to come in and have to restrain myself from jumping right up and getting them out. Weekend orders will probably go out on Monday. Most items will be shipped USPS.
I’ll sometimes use recycled material, but we stopped driving around looking for boxes a long time ago. That was not using our time wisely and the businesses keep them broken down and locked up on a trailer around here, so they’re almost impossible to find. Therefore, your box will probably be new.
I do use packing peanuts, tightly packed, for breakable items. They’re annoying, I know, but they are the best I’ve found to keep your item safe during shipping. (I won’t argue that with anyone. Everybody has their own favorite way.) It will be heavily wrapped in bubble wrap, depending on the item, it’s often small bubbles first, then large bubbles. Stickie-outies like arms, knobs, etc. will be carefully protected. Non-breakables will be packed with paper. - You said “we.” It’s not just you?
This side is just me. My husband has his own eBay. Sells a lot of new fishing stuff. - It broke on the way! What do I do?
You must let me know. Save the packaging and send me a picture. We’ll get it sorted out. I will say that I have very, very little experience handling breakage. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I can’t remember the last time something broke. It might take me a little while to figure out how to proceed. - Tracking says it was delivered, but it’s not here! Help!
Frickin’ frackin’ postal system! They are so overworked and it happens. I’m afraid, there’s nothing I can do. You’ll have to contact your Post Office and get them to trace it. - Where do you get your stuff?
Mostly local estate sales. Unless stated, your item WILL NOT be new. It WILL have some age on it. It might be like new, but it’s not. Somebody else owned it first. Keepin’ it from the landfill, y’all. Vintage is the ultimate recycle. - You don’t ship outside the US?
Not at this time. Not from the web site. If the item is on eBay, I use their global shipping program there. And I promise, it’s not you or your country. It’s me. It’s a long story I won’t go into, but I learned long ago to just not do it.
