Bah humbug – A Little Vintage Christmas Decorating

Christmas in the pantry

This is nuts! I simply cannot get into Christmas decorating mode this year. I’ve spent the last who knows how many days cleaning and straightening the house just to get it ready to decorate. And I’m still at it. With a couple more rooms yet to go. I won’t go into all the excuses valid reasons the house was so intolerable that I had to spend this much time on it first, but it was required. And I’ve been enjoying every minute! Well, most of the minutes. It feels so good to have everything neat and clean! I don’t have the heart to clutter it up by putting out all the decorations like I usually do. Besides, Christmas is almost here! I made the executive decision today to just put out a few things here and there. And – gasp – no big tree. Shocking, I know. But it’ll all be so easy to pick up afterwards. So it begins.

A few reindeer in the pantry:

Also in the pantry:

My mother and me in 1962 in Lufkin, Texas. Kelty’s precisely. And if anybody went to Mable Lanier grammar school, I’d love to talk to you.

On the big dining table:

The little white tree is the bell tree this year:

The plan is to put out more tomorrow and maybe the next day, but this is pretty much as far as I’ve got so far. It’s killing me, but I haven’t even got to see what you all have done! I know my blog list and I know with absolute certainty that all of you, if you did anything at all, have beautiful Christmas homes this year. Looking forward to sitting down and cruising through them all.

  1. I think having a blog applies pressure to get all this done. Do not worry that tree is gorgeous.

  2. I’ve had years where the decorating was just too much for me to do and I have also just put out a few things. This year I only did two trees as opposed to last years four trees. Sometimes we just have to let things go. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! Hugs, Linda

  3. I think quality is much more important than quantity. I sure don’t have much in the way of quantity out this year, but I love what I have out. Your vintage ornaments are gorgeous on that little white tree. Love the sweet reindeer in the first picture, so cute!

  4. You have been holding out “the Little Logan’s” on me~LOL Glad you are feeling the urge for a clean sweep…Tiff
