Antique Booth Display Ideas: The Art of Vintage Staging
My daughter and I share a couple of vintage and antique booths at Angel’s Antique Mall in Opelika, Alabama. She’s the one with the design talent! Not everything is placed exactly how we’d like, but there was a lot of stuff vying for space and some things didn’t get the features they deserved. Even still, t he video below is full of vintage and antique booth display ideas. It isn’t just a walk-through of things lined up on shelves, but a class on vintage home decor booth staging. I hope it helps give you some ideas for your own booth.
We’ve found that for our aesthetic, it works well for us to have things styled rather than just put wherever there’s a spot, although that does happen. Especially with the things that didn’t find a good place in the beginning of the “redo” or things that came in at a later date.
The booth is an open corner, 12′ x 13′, with two walls.
- First, I want to address the chair on top of the table. That’s more necessity than choice. It looks good, but it’s not the best idea since people can’t sit in it to see if it’s comfortable and sturdy. We simply didn’t have room on the floor.
- Always use layers and varying heights. The eye needs interest and something to follow.
- Depth. Have taller things behind, then middle height, and shorter in front. But use with caution. Don’t obscure the taller thing with a middle size item.
- Color. Consider putting like colors or coordinating colors together.
- Here’s a don’t for you. Don’t put things on the floor like we did — unless, as in our case, there’s no place else for it to go. I will tell you that we don’t sell a lot off the floor.
- People shop between their waist and their head. Above and below is pretty much a dead zone, but at the same time, those zones don’t need to be empty. Rotate things after a week or so.
- Pack it full. You can’t sell it if it’s not there.
- Good luck and above all, have fun! Even if you consider it your job rather than a hobby, it still should be fun.
Do you prefer a well-staged booth or do you enjoy digging to find a treasure? Tell me in the comments!
