Yes, it’s that time again folks. Time to join Tales From Bloggeritaville for Thrifty Thursday.
I didn’t remember this, but apparently, in looking back over everything and trying to place when and where they were bought, I must not have got out on Friday. Was it stormy that day? I dunno. Anyway, here’s everything, in order of appearance (order in which each thing was bought):
Copper, outdoor lantern and a copper hat ashtray. I can never seem to resist these ashtrays. My grandmother had one and as a little kid I was enthralled by it. I did think it was a waste that it always had ashes in it, but I think it reminded me of a doll hat.
~~~
Hmmm… Paint, leave it as is or take it apart and see if the top part would look good on a big wooden vase I have?
~~~
Next sale:
These are just your standard, bathroom cabinets you can still buy at Home Depot or Lowes, but the price was right, so I bit.
And from that same sale:
Pretty mirror you can tell absolutely nothing about in my picture. Too much in the reflection. You’ll notice I carefully planned it so it wasn’t me in the reflection.
All this came from two different sales in one neighborhood.
~~~~
Then I went to a town 30 miles down the road to an estate sale. The sale was really odd. The house was big enough, but they only let a few people in at a time. I really don’t like when they do that — unless I’m in the first batch. đŸ˜‰ I wasn’t, so I had to wait. I found out later that they’d let a local furniture seller guy come in and buy all the furniture. Pooh. But I found a few neat-o things there.
I love this. It looks like it should have Mexico on it somewhere, but I couldn’t find anything.
~~
I’ve had one of these Felix the Cat chalkboards before. It’s probably been 12 years since I’ve seen one “in the wild”. I don’t think my first one had a string. That string is supposed to be his tail… I guess… hehe. I didn’t think a thing about it until I took the picture.
~~
This bowl is LARGE. Probably stands a foot tall! I loved it’s modern, tilted design. 1960’s maybe?
~~
Drinking glass holder thingy. Uh-oh. It’s missing a knob on the right side.
Always love the cottage prints.
Flower pin with some stones missing.
Three watches. You know what for. Jewelry. Jewelry I’ve been planning for a couple of years now.
Rooster shaker. Why have I been finding so many rooster things lately?
I think that stuffed mouse might be Topo Gigio of Ed Sullivan fame.
~~
Hat for the flowers. (I’ve been a good grasshopper and have learned from you talented bloggers well.)
Pinecone elves and old snowmen.
~~
Old radio. Not because it’s an old radio, but because…..
If the wires and things are taken out, wouldn’t it make a cute shadow box? Besides, unless it’s a home made radio, that front isn’t original.
I’m pretty sure I’m keeping both of these things. The heart pin cushion, I know will go into my collection. The black and white, wool… um… long… thing… might be a pretty table runner on my big dining room table. And maybe Oreo’s black hair will blend in. She’s not supposed to get on the table, but cats are impossible sometimes.
~~
On the way out the door I grabbed an old sprinkler (not pictured) and this:
Why in the world? What was I thinking??? Is there any hope for this little cart? I’m just dumbfounded. It wasn’t cheap, either. Sheesh!
~~~~
Then Tuesday the thrift store beckoned. Besides the beaded purse in yesterday’s blog, these things came out the door with me.
Hand, mainly to display jewelry unless someone wants it. The flowers are broken on the edge.
Aren’t those little crocheted things darling? They might be incorporated into a peat pot project or something. Better get on that.
The head was someone’s ceramic project in 1973, but I liked her and thought she’d look better painted white. Once the pollen is gone I’ll have a whole line up of things to paint.
Then there’s the silver plate shaker. The guy at the counter said something about how pretty it would shine up. “Like those over there.” Ahem. There was a reason I didn’t get “those over there.” They were to shiny.
So that’s it. Running off tomorrow to find more junk treasures. I’ve GOT to get busy putting these things in the online shop!
Oooh, I keep looking at your goodies, scrolling up and down to make sure I didn’t miss anything. That string is too funny. I always notice things after I take the picture:) I was also checking out all your jewelry in the reflection of that cool mirror. It was a good hunting day.
Hey Wanda, Loved looking at all your buys. I went to a weird/strange/cool “moving sale” Friday. Way back in the woods and the license plate on the old van said “mountain woman”…..abbreviated. Does that tell you anything? LOL…. They were fun to chat with. They were just jumping into their van and heading to Colorado (without a job). One was a sculptor and I did buy some of her bird houses and feeders….very unique. And my friend bought a dehydrator. Got nothing old and cool though. Hope you are having a fun weekend đŸ™‚
Ooh I love looking through your finds!! Hugs,Tee
