It was hard work unearthing these!

10-11-08

Yup. That’s my take for the weekend. Not that I’m complaining. I think it’s all pretty cool, but …. well, you know I wish it was about 10 times more than that. Especially since it’s been three or four weeks since I’ve got to go junking!

The microscope and lab case is just that. The case only. But I thought it could be part of a future project. It’s kinda interesting how I got that case. I pulled up to the yard sale, saw some furniture and started thinking this might be a good one. The seller, a man in his 50s, was standing there with this amazed look on his face. As I walked up he just shook his head and said it was all already sold. Huh? It’s 8:00 in the morning. “All of it?”, I asked. “All of it”, he replied. “Even those nasty bottles over there?” “ALL of it.” “I’m thinking they’re even going to take my cement blocks!” He said a man had come by the day before and bought everything. He had taken most of it with him then and was coming back to get the rest. I murmured how fortunate he was. No, I was more gracious than that. I actually exclaimed how fortunate he was. He said he was going to bring stuff out of the shed. Oh, “I’m a shed girl!”, I said. “Let’s see what you’ve got.” Sigh. Not much. I came out with a bird feeder and the microscope case.

A couple more sales netted the other things. The deco tin box, the toy typewriter, baby buggy and bathroom light fixture shade. Later on in the day I happened across an unadvertised sale where I bought a set of small, brown, antique door knobs.

I’m so looking forward to next weekend. Ricky’s doing the gun show in Birmingham and there had just better be some estate sales happening. If I’m gonna be there anyway….. If not, I’ll just go to yard sales. Boo-hoo. LOL
