Old Elliman’s Universal Embrocation enamelware cup. White with black graphics and blue trim. Elliman’s seems to have been a type of “medicine” or snake oil cure for “stiffness, aches, sprains, bruises.” The graphic features a lady with puffy, leg-o-mutton sleeves riding a bicycle, a man riding an antique tricycle, and a dog, looks like a collie, chasing them. I see these, the few that I’ve seen, represented as an 1800s promotional or even as a medicine cup. I’m not sure it’s quite that old. Maybe early 20th century, but there’s always the possibility it was a later reproduction. HOWEVER, it has signs of age that are characteristic of being quite old. Some chipping and rusting of the enamel, inside as well as outside and dents around the rim. Please see all the pictures. There is also the remains of some kind of sticker or paper on the bottom that is well and truly stuck. It’s almost like it is glued on. No amount of GlueGone and scraping removed it.

Size: 2-3/4″ tall and 3″ in diameter.

This will go perfectly with your enamel, graniteware collection, medicinal collection or white ironstone collection!
