Antique decorative plate, the hard to find, ironstone, Brougham & Mayer Hybla dinner plate. It is a pretty blue-green with deep red and mustard accents. As with most antique ironstone pieces, there is staining and scuffs. Also crazing that is more obvious on the back. The background is a creamy white. The bright photography lights make it look slighter whiter than it actually is. There are no chips or cracks. The border has a raised design separating 1-1/4″ panels. (It’s quite a satisfying sensation to run your finger around the border.) The plate is 9-1/4″ in diameter.
The back is marked, “Ironstone – HYBLA – BROUGHAM * MAYER” and has the number 7 stamped on it. There are the remains of two, very old stickers where I’m sure someone bought it in an antique store. I’ve left these on there as, at this point, they are part of the plate’s history.
