Such a pretty example of 1960s Italianate decor. This Freeman McFarlin ashtray is 9″ square, with antiqued gold surrounding a high gloss, dark green center. The gold covers the 2″, curved edge as well as the underside. It sits raised off the table by shaped “feet”.
In good condition, but there is an area of tiny nicks. Please see the greatly magnified picture. The bottom reads, “FREEMAN MCFARLIN – CALIF© USA – 282”
This belonged to my mother who got it when she had an interior decorator come in and “do” the whole house in 1968. The more formal areas were Italianate with Florentine and gold leaf. And this ashtray. As much as I wish I could, I can’t keep it all.
