The 1960s decorator items brought us some deep, jewel tones including dark green and gold. This ashtray, probably a Freeman McFarlin ashtray (A furniture store sticker is stuck on the bottom where the Freeman McFarlin, or other, mark would be.) is a lovely example the style.
It is a pottery ashtray with a deep, olive-green bowl and antiqued gold gilt sides and bottom. It has a raised, 4-petal design is in the middle of the bowl.
Size: Rectangular – 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and 1-1/4″ high.
There is one very small chip on the base and some scuffs revealing pink underneath on one side.
Please see the last picture of the bottom. It is very much in the style of Freeman McFarlin but there is a large, Town and Country (a fine furniture store in Birmingham, AL in the ’60’s-’70’s) sticker on the bottom which would cover any marks or McFarlin sticker.
