Pair of antique ambrotypes, a man and a woman, in a double case. The case is, I believe, covered in embossed paper that is worn at the corners and edges. It is held together by black cloth tape, also fraying, so typically found on this type of case from this era. I can’t tell if it ever had actual hinges or if the tape is original. There are two hooks and prongs on the open side for closure. It is 4-3/4″ tall and 7-1/2″ wide fully opened.
The photos are surrounded by, and framed with, ornate embossed copper that is showing a good bit of patina. The lady’s glass is broken in a top corner, but the copper hides this from the front.
