Estate found, a box full of old recipes, mostly desserts, although I did see hush puppies and a punch recipe in there. In the very front of this box there is a card that reads: Lena Mae Mitchell’s Recipe Box & her collection of recipes. There are many hand written cards and pieces of paper, as well as some clipped from newspapers and magazines. The few dates I found were 1959-1970.
The box itself is just a rusty, old and bent, metal, 3X5 card file box. Unpretentious, well used. It makes us think that Ms Lena Mae was a practical woman who used what she had and saw no reason to waste. Just like us thrifters!
