Blue La Solana Ashtray. Today, we’d call it robin’s egg blue. It is 9″ in diameter and in very good condition. I find no chips or cracks. There is one, tiny, pre-firing, clay build-up on the edge. It does have color and glaze.
La Solana is such a beautiful example of mid century modern. At least one piece could be found in most households. Most of those would be dishes. I believe they were given out as premiums at some stores. The ashtrays, however, are a bit harder to find. I was told this one was used in the previous owner’s lake home in the 1960s.
