What does your name mean?

I’ve never liked my name. In the second grade, I tried to change it to my middle name, which shall remain, ahem, nameless. It’s a lot better, but still not one I would have willingly chosen. Momma was having none of that. If she’d wanted my middle name to be my first name, she’d have made it my first name! I questioned my mother, Mildred Louise, why she chose Wanda. Turns out she hated her name, too and wanted me to have a pretty, unusual name. It’s pretty unusual, but I don’t think of it as pretty. She loved the name. But why couldn’t I be a Carol or a Debbie or a Jane? “Too common”, was her answer. And I have to say, I like the name Carol, but I’ve had four Carols very close to me in my life and many more not as close.

When I saw this post over at Lynn M’s I had to see what my name meant, too. (You can do your own at Blog Things.) Now, if this made the rounds already while I was out of the loop, indulge me. OK?

With no further adeu, adoo, adu, ????? here it is – with my with my ever so witty and amusing comments added.

You Are Enchanting and Artful ***Hmmm. So far, so good.
You are very charming… dangerously so. You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.
You know how what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.
You have the power to rule the world. Let’s hope you’re a benevolent dictator!
*** OK. I’ll accept that. Maybe not all that true, but I’ll take it.

You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
***Yes, I do strive for perfection which is why I don’t do much. I fall too short of the “perfect” goal.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

***Huh???? Ummm….. how about none of the above?

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

***I’d say these are spot on.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
***Maaaay-be a touch, but I sure wouldn’t define that as part of my personality.

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.

***Baaaahahahahahahahahaha! In that active imagination mentioned above!

You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.

***Did they accidentally mix someone else’s thing with mine?

People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

***She shrugs. I don’t much think that’s me, either. Dominant personality? I kinda enjoy blending into the background. Stubborn? In certain areas, but I usually just go whichever way the wind blows. Headstrong? Uh, define headstrong.

So there you have it. My momma chose the wrong name. It doesn’t seem to fit. Maybe I should keep trying and see which name actually does fit my personality.

  1. Hey Wanda…you know I think I got the same results except that Deanna isn’t spelled Wanda! I definately am not authoritative, and aggressive. I do have an outgoing personality but I wouldn’t call it Type A!
I don’t think this test is too accurate! LOL!!

  2. Your name is pretty!
I like it and at least it’s not Priscilla, like mine which I have never really liked either!

  3. We must be from the same era…..my name is Charlene and I hated it (don’t any longer) and I asked my Mom “Why didn’t you name me Carol or Donna or Debbie?” đŸ™‚

  4. I did the name thing too and it was pretty much me to a T. Weird. So glad to hear from you recently. I need to get better at checking in with you one a more regular basis. Hope you have a great day!

  5. Have no enough money to buy a house? You not have to worry, just because this is real to get the credit loans to solve such kind of problems. Thence take a term loan to buy everything you require.
